Different forms of recreational fishing are kayak fishing, surf fishing and spear fishing. There are also many competitions held for these different forms of fishing where the competitors compete for the largest fish they can catch and the largest haul of fish of a particular species caught.

They also have their licensing restrictions and conventions which define the ways by which fish may be caught. There are also restrictions in the use of nets for catching fish, and the use of hooks as well. The governments of different countries usually enforce all these regulations on their anglers to ensure that fish are caught in the proper manner.
