Fishing
Fishing is often considered a livelihood in numerous parts of the world. People catch huge amounts of fish on fishing boats and sell them to people in fish markets and other retail and wholesale outlets. While fishing is indeed a livelihood that places food on people's tables and fish in the different marketplaces worldwide, it is also a very popular sport and is loved by a lot of people from all over the world.
There are numerous kinds of fishing sports that people enjoy. Among some of the more famous ones are bass fishing, trout fishing, deep sea fishing and fly fishing. These are called sport fishing or recreational fishing. The rewards that can be had from sport fishing involve the size and weight of the fish that is caught. While a lot of fishermen who go out to the different bodies of water to catch fish do so for a living or to feed the families, sport fishermen do it for fun and for the challenge it presents.

Some of the more famous fish that sport fishermen go after include huge deep sea fishes like the marlin and tuna. These rather huge fishes are weighed and measured by these anglers once they are caught or have their pictures taken with their prizes for poster purposes. In the past, sport fishermen would kill whatever they catch and take these to shore with them for proper measuring and even to have them stuffed to take them home as trophies that they can display over their mantle or on a wall in their house. These days, however, a lot of sport or game fishermen tend to throw back their catch after taking pictures of the fish and weighing and measuring it.
The sport of angling or recreational fishing requires a person to have a lot of patience since you do not usually get the fish during your first, second or third try. There will also be days when these fishermen do not catch a single fish or even get a nibble on their line.
Each variation of this sport has its own set of rules and competitions in this sport often follow these rules to give players an even footing. Fishing tournaments may happen on piers, ponds, rivers, lakes and anywhere where there is a possibility of catching large fish. There are competitions where the score a person gets is a composite of the weight of all the fishes he catches or the combined weight of the three biggest fishes he has or the weight of the single biggest fish he finds. There are also fishing tournaments that involve teams and the total weight of all the fish a team finds is counted toward the final score for that team.
